Counted cross stitch kit of Avro Lancaster. ED-909 flown by 617 squadron Dambuster Flt Lt Mickey Martin on 16-17 May 1943. The mid-top turrett was removed for the night raids as not required, because of the extra weight of the bouncing bomb. This aircraft, and the other eighteen which flew on Operation Chastise, was designed by Roy Chadwick, and converted to carry Dr Barnes Wallis' ten-ton Upkeep mine, known as the bouncing bomb. You can just see a glimpse of the V-shaped bomb bracket in my cross stitch design.

My design contains whole cross stitches - no part stitches - and some back stitch. The stitched size will be 8.85" x 8.45"/ 22.5 cm x 21.5 cm. It would fit a frame measuring 37.9 cm x 21.6 cm without mount, or 40.6 cm x 30.5 cm with mount.

The kit contains a cover sheet with photograph and content details, 14 count white blockweave Aida (28 count evenweave linen is available as an alternative at £3 extra), DMC stranded cottons in 24 shades, ready-sorted on a thread organiser with the key, needle, easy-to-follow charts, small and large scale, two sets, one in black and white with symbols and the other in colour, full instructions including for beginners and specific instructions for this kit.
