Hurricane

Ref: X104

In stock

Counted cross stitch of Hurricane. A Mk IIC, SS-C in honour of Sir Sidney Camm, the aircraft's chief designer. In Battle of Britain colours.

The kit design contains only whole cross stitches - no part stitches - and some back stitches. The stitched measurements are 11" x 7"/30.5 cm x 18 cm.

The finished embroidery will fit a frame measuring 32 cm x 22 cm (12.5" x 8.5") without a mount, or 43.5 m x 33.5 cm (17" x 13") with a mount.

The kit as you will receive it from us contains 14 count white blockweave Aida as standard. 28 count evenweave 100% Cashel linen available as option for £3 extra. It also contains DMC stranded cottons in 25 colours, ready-sorted on a thread organiser, needle, easy to follow charts, both small scale and large scale, instructions for beginners and specific instructions for the kit.

The design is painted to represent a 242 Squadron Hurricane based at RAF Coltishall during the Battle of Britain. We have given it the identification letters SS-C in honour of Sir Sydney Camm. Over 14,000 Hurricanes were built in Britain and Canada. Hurricanes shot down more Luftwaffe aircraft in the battle of Britain than all other defences combined.

This embroidery matches our designs of a Lancaster and a Spitfire, and is designed to fit the same sized frame so they could be hung atttractively together.
